winter, winter warmer, log burner, wood burner, real fire

Winter is a fantastic time of year to visit Cornwall. The crowds have gone, the beaches and roads are quieter. It may be wetter or blowing a bracing Atlantic wind but off season there’s still plenty to see and do.

So plan to take time out – before diaries fill with Christmas plans or after the festive hullabaloo.  Relax. Escape it all. And take advantage of our winter warmers.

You’ll find us in tranquil rural locations just outside Bude at the furthermost tip of North Cornwall. Ideally situated for exploring both coast and countryside.

If you’re travelling with pre-schoolers, there is no need to pack everything but the kitchen sink. Being parents ourselves, we’ve been there, done it and are still doing it! Our cottages and facilities have been designed with this in mind. We offer lots of pre-bookable extras to make your packing and holiday as relaxing as possible. See our Child Friendly page for more information.

Couples and groups alike can also enjoy this quieter time of year. Explore the local area. Walk the coastal path. Stroll on beaches. Catch the gnarliest waves. Discover traditional pubs and some amazing restaurants. Discover more on the Couple Getaway and Group Stays pages.

All our holiday homes are fully equipped, toasty and comfortable. Plus our range of onsite facilities including heated swimming pool, tennis court and much much more guarantee that you don’t need to go far to start having fun.

With so much to enjoy in Cornwall, book that break and start exploring

Clovelly Herring Festival

17th November

Clovelly Herring Festival always falls in November. It’s the time of year when our historic village celebrates the coming of the great “Silver Darlings”, better known as Herring. We celebrate and promote this tasty, nutritious fish whilst supporting sustainable fishing. The village always depended on the harvest of herring, caught in superb condition for a short season off this coast. Records go back over 400 years and in 1749 there were about a hundred herring boats in the port. When fishing was good, 9000 herring could be landed at one time. Those days of massive catches are long gone. These days we have just two herring fishermen, both employing sustainable fishing methods using only drift nets and long lines.  Visit their Facebook Page for more details
